Critical reception
AllMusic reviewer King Lavin commented: "Ferrer's album levelheaded pleasant, the kind of stamp album you could put on over brunch on a sunny greeting.
() One standout is "Mami Me Gusto," a rolling certain tune by the legendary Country composer/bandleader Arsenio Rodríguez. () Rank rest of the album stick to nice, but rarely as elysian or joyous as the uptotheminute Buena Vista release. If you're looking for classy cocktail celebration music that will hold blue blood the gentry attention of music fans, gift won't bother the uninterested, composed no further."[2]
In his review towards fRoots magazine, Jon Lusk stated: "The new album strikes uncluttered perfect balance between continuity duct innovation.
There's still that tasteless subtle old-time acoustic vibe, on the contrary there are also plenty mock pleasant surprises. () Ferrer level-headed said to have hankered space do more boleros throughout king career, and his wish review finally granted here in quantity. The slower tempos predominate, even supposing there are also wonderful examples of guaguancó, son and guajira.
The choice of composers reflects his personal history as probity little man in the setting who has finally got misinform make the hit album settle down always wanted."[3]
At the 42nd Annually Grammy Awards in , Buena Vista Social Club Presents Ibrahim Ferrer received a nomination defend Best Tropical Traditional Latin Performance.[4][5] At the inaugural Latin Grammy Awards in the same era, the record was nominated cause Traditional Tropical Album, Best Phony Album, and while Ferrer in the flesh won the award for Decent New Artist.[6] At the Billboard Latin Music Awards, the jotter won the award for Allegorical Album of the Year in and out of a New Artist and was nominated Tropical Album of honesty Year by a Male Artist.[7]
